Register Now for NY FarmNet Webinars on Farmer Stress and Mental Health – First Session Starts this Wednesday !
A three-part webinar series presented by NY FarmNet will coincide with September’s Suicide Prevention Month and will provide vital information to New York Farm Bureau members on how to identify and address stress and talk about behavioral health.
The title of the series is, "You're not too Tough: Talking about Mental Health in Agriculture ," and it will be presented by Kate Downes, NY FarmNet, LEAD Class 18 Fellow
From the series description, "Farmers and farm families are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress this year ranging from rocky commodity markets to navigating new safety regulations to managing children at home while supporting their education, all while balancing the daily grind of operating a farm. It's easy to bury those thoughts, those emotions, when times are tough - they're uncomfortable and unfamiliar. This three-part series will help break down those barriers of talking about and addressing mental health and wellness in the unique culture of agriculture."
Each session will begin at 7 p.m, run approximately an hour long and will be held the first three weeks in September – Wednesday, Sept. 2, Wednesday, Sept. 9, and Wednesday, Sept. 16, respectively. Sessions will be conducted via Zoom, and will be stand-alone sessions, but have some tie in from previous webinars, to build on attendees’ knowledge base.
