NCRAT WEEKLY Update April 23, 2020
Dairy:
- Met with
other Regional Dairy Specialists across the state this week to start
program planning for Summer/Fall
- Did a radio
interview with Kelsey with 102.7 in Malone (airing this Friday at 8am https://www.1027wicy.com/) on what
farmers are doing in this crisis and how consumers can help
Crops:
- Charlie is touching up my barley plot area this
afternoon for a little bit more drying and Mike Davis et al are coming
across tomorrow to plant.
- I (Kitty) had a small presentation this
morning with the NYS Soil Health Working Group zoom call (41 ppl). I
presented our NNYADP results on our Within-field Variability in Soil Health
Parameters project which spanned the past couple of years. It was
well-received with 2 ppl asking questions at the end and 4 follow-up emails
from across the Northeast immediately afterward.

NY Farm Bureau (I confirmed this with the President) is offering ALL OF
ITS COVID-19 related information to ALL FARMERS on their website. They
want everyone to be aware and involved. Feel free to direct farmers

SENATE PASSES BILL- HOUSE SCHEDULED TO VOTE TODAY: PPP LOAN
PROGRAM FUNDING replenished with $320 billion as well as EDIL funding
of 60 billion AND expanding to Agricultural Businesses CLICK HERE for

Coronavirus Food Assistance Program that includes direct payments to
farmers as well as product buy-ups to provide food to those in need.
