Cornell Cooperative Extension of Clinton County has a wealth of information available to homeowners on gardening, landscaping, lawn care, houseplants, wildlife, natural resources, insects, and much more. Whether you want to know how to grow a better tomato, how to attract birds and butterflies to your yard, or how to control grubs in the lawn, we will do our best to help you find research-based answers.
Gypsy Moth Caterpillars
"The gypsy moth is one of the most important forest pests in the Northeast. The caterpillars feed on leaves of forest, shade, ornamental and fruit trees, and shrubs. What We Do
We offer classes, fact sheets, troubleshooting, diagnostics, soil testing, and more. We want you to have fun exploring our web-based resources, but also encourage you to stop by any one of our offices with questions and/or samples, call us, and attend our hands-on workshops and events.
In addition, we have active Master Gardener Volunteer programs in Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. The mission of the Master Gardener Volunteer Program is to train volunteers to teach others how to protect the environment and grow plants more effectively. Master Gardener volunteers are a key link in helping the Cooperative Extension accomplish its mission in counties throughout the state.

($5 per sample)
CCE Clinton County is available to test pH and/or to provide you with paperwork to complete a full soil analysis through another agency.

Insect Diagnostic Lab
For more information about an insect, or how to deal with an insect problem in or around your home or garden, contact the Insect Diagnostic Lab, a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension in the Department of Entomology. For a $25 fee, an insect or related arthropod can be shipped to the lab, or a detailed photo can be emailed, for expert identification. Diagnostician Jason Dombroskie, Ph.D. has many years of experience identifying insects and other arthropods.
