Firefighters and emergency personnel are invited to join CCE Educators and Dan Neenan (Director of the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety), to learn critical information regarding the dangers of working around manure pits. On-farm manure storages pose a risk for injury or death not only to farmers but to those who respond to emergencies on the farm.
In this training participants will learn:
Priority will be given to firefighters for the full, hands-on training, however EMT’s and farm workers may attend as well to observe. Firefighters will need to bring their bunker gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Each training session will include a lecture, hands-on experience working with a manure pit simulator, and then a farm tour. Dinner will be provided.
The National Education Center for Ag Safety is providing this skills-based training at three locations across Clinton, St. Lawrence, and Lewis Counties.
