Ag Literacy Week 2026

Agriculture Literacy Week 2026

Ag Literacy Week is an event that's created every year by New York State Agriculture in the Classroom in celebration of New York agriculture. Farmers, 4-H members, adults engaged in a career in agriculture and engaged in our food system volunteer to enthusiastically engage students in a paired hands-on activity related to the book to extend learning. From March 16th to March 20th, a dozen volunteers will read to approximately 500+ students.

This year, the book is "Seasons on the Farm" by Chelsea Tornetto.

The story highlights how the seasons shape farming and food production, including beef, while helping students understand the journey from farm to plate. By exploring what spring, summer, fall, and winter look like on a family farm, students gain a greater appreciation for the people who work year-round to produce food. Highlighting beef production is a great way to show our appreciation to many local beef farmers in Clinton County who make their living serving their community.

Funding for the books was generously provided by the Clinton County Farm Bureau.
