This is the 20th year of Ag Literacy week which has reached over a million students across NYS since 2006. NYS Ag in the Classroom and Farm Bureau celebrates New York Agriculture. The agriculture community provides volunteer readers from Farm Bureau, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and other Ag community partners to read this year's book to students to increase their knowledge and understanding of our local food system. Ag Lit Week, which runs from March 16th to March 20th, will reach over 1200 Clinton County students across 13 schools this year.
The 2026 selected title is "Seasons on the Farm" by Chelsea Tornetto. The book highlights how seasons affect life on farms and impact the production of food, including beef. This gives students a better understanding of food production and the journey of food from farm to plate. Students gain a deeper appreciation for the folks who work year-round to produce food. Beef production is highlighted as a great way to show our appreciation for our many beef producers in Clinton County.
Each school that participates receives a copy for its school library.
